Site Selection
As the starting point of the green field development, site selection is the most crucial step. Hence, following procedures should be followed by the experts while choosing the project site,
- Suitable substation connection locations are determined.
- Regions of high energy potential should be determined by considering mesoscale wind atlas, measurements made in the close stations and production data of the operational wind farms.
- Restricted areas such as Licensed WPP projects, existing pre-license applications, bird migration routes, licensed mining areas, interaction areas for meteorological radars and VOR devices of General Directorate of State Airports Authority should be considered while potential WPP project site boundaries are determined.
- By using the estimated wind conditions inside the site boundary considered, an indicative layout is designed and energy yield of the wind farm calculated. Project IRR is estimated according to the energy yield of the wind farm, the estimated future costs and electricity prices.
Measurement Campaign Specification
For achieving a good financing condition for the renewable energy project, it is crucial to have higher estimation of energy production. High energy production estimation is mainly dependent on site climate conditions and low uncertainties. While designing measurement campaigns, lowering uncertainties on an analysis conducted in accordance with the MEASNET and TR6 standards should be considered.
